Dungeons & Dragons‘ box office surpassed $208 million worldwide before the movie moved to streaming, but the domestic total was $93.2 million. This means that Sound of Freedom outearned Dungeons & Dragons by over $30 million and counting at the domestic box office.
3 M3GAN
M3GAN was the first major surprise box office hit of 2023. The killer A.I. doll danced, sang, and slayed its way to make $179.8 million worldwide for Universal, which is well above Sound of Freedom‘s impressive box office total. However, the domestic and international splits come out to $95 million versus $84.8 million. That means that Sound of Freedom beat M3GAN at the domestic 2023 box office by a substantial margin. There is roughly $30 million separating the two movies as of the time of this writing, and that gap is sure to increase as long as people keep paying for and using the Sound of Freedom free tickets.
