- It is unclear whether Corrin’s villain character is from the X-Men universe or the MCU, as they might be related to other Marvel characters and come back from the dead.
Deadpool 3 star Emma Corrin sheds some light on their mysterious villain character in the upcoming Marvel Studios film. Phase 5 will mark the arrival of Wade Wilson as Ryan Reynolds reprises the role of Deadpool in his third film, which will integrate him into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. While several castings have been revealed for Deadpool 3, plot details are still being kept under wraps, including the villain, whom Corrin will play.
The Crown star, who joined the Deadpool 3 cast back in February, recently talked about their experience joining the MCU in the September issue of Empire. While they obviously couldn’t reveal the name of their character, Corrin did state that they had to get, essentially, a Marvel beginner’s class, including how “this person came back and this person’s dead.” Corrin also shared their excitement about getting to play an antagonist in a massive superhero film, stating the following:
Shawn Levy, the director, came to see Orlando. I’d heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. So I met him being like, “I don’t know what this is about.” And, hands up, I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, “Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.” It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-fuck. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing. I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people. It’s a phenomenon and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings. And I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.
Which Deadpool 3 Villain Emma Corrin Could Be Playing
Based on Corrin’s statement alone, it seems as if they are playing someone that not only comes back from the dead but is related to other Marvel characters. Whether that means it is someone from the MCU or Fox’s X-Men universe is unclear since Deadpool 3 will be dealing with both franchises as Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine while there are rumors that the Time Variance Authority is involved too. With that in mind, it is more likely that Corrin’s villain character is someone from the X-Men universe, but the bigger question still remains about who they are playing in Deadpool 3.
One potential candidate is Angel Dust, who was played by Gina Carano in 2016’s Deadpool where her fate was left ambiguous. Perhaps she died off-screen and is coming back to life, but with Corrin taking over in a recasting move for Deadpool 3, having unfinished business with Wade after their initial encounter. The other logical option would be that Corrin is playing someone related to the X-Men characters, who perhaps also had a death off-screen before their inevitable resurrection.
With Deadpool 3 production currently on pause, time will tell who Corrin is actually playing in the film and what impact they will have on the story. Once filming resumes and if they have any scenes outside, set photos will likely give a few hints away about their role. But for now, the world it remains to be seen what villain Corrin is playing in Deadpool 3.
