Fast X has hints about Fast & Furious 11, says director Louis Leterrier, who cites one specific scene that viewers should focus on. Released in theaters this past May, the tenth main installment in the Fast & Furious franchise finds Dom protecting his family from the fury of Dante, son of drug lord Hernan Reyes, who is seeking revenge for his father’s death from Fast Five. After being attacked and having her crew turned against her in Fast X, a wounded Cipher arrives at the Toretto home to tell Dom and Letty that Dante is targeting them.
As audiences await more information about Fast & Furious 11, Leterrier says there are plenty of clues present in Fast X that hint at what lies ahead. During a recent interview with CinemaBlend for Fast X‘s Peacock release date, the director cited the early Cipher scene as one that viewers should focus on for clues. Read what he shared below:
Listen to what is said, listen to the dialogue. I think people enjoy the visuals, and the flare, and the fun, and everything. But there are some scenes that are designed where the conversations, the threats are real. When something sticks out, it’s for a reason. I’m not talking about one scene in particular, there’s like five scenes where we laid out the seeds to our great, next part of this adventure.
Let’s start with the beginning. The moment where Cipher enters Dom and Letty’s house. Whatever she says will inform everything.
What Fast X’s Cipher Scene May Reveal About Fast & Furious 11
Early on in Fast X, a bloodied and bruised Cipher arrives at the Toretto residence in a DeLorean. Given the choice of vehicle, which was famously outfitted as a time machine in Back to the Future, it’s been speculated that Fast & Furious 11 might incorporate time travel into the increasingly ridiculous franchise. However, in terms of clues for Fast & Furious 11, Leterrier is likely referring to what Ciper tells Dom and Letty, and not the vehicle she arrives in.
During their conversation, Cipher tells Dom and Letty that “there’s a war is coming, sides are being chosen, and everyone you love will be destroyed.” This war already started in Fast X and may have resulted in the deaths of Jakob, Roman, Tej, Han, and Ramsey. Given the franchise’s history of fake-out deaths and retcons, it’s unclear if these deaths will actually stick. Leterrier pointing to Cipher’s comments as clues suggests that they will, and Dom could lose even more family members in Fast & Furious 11.
