Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Has To Fix The Marvel Multiverse In Spider-Man 4 Fan Trailer

A new fan trailer for Spider-Man 4 pitches a clever way for Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been eagerly hoping for Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s respective versions of Peter Parker to come back while also waiting to see more of Tom Holland’s adventure in the MCU. Whether it would be through Maguire’s scrapped Spider-Man 4 film or Garfield’s canceled The Amazing Spider-Man 3, fans have been campaigning for Sony Pictures to continue their stories in one way or another. Screen Culture recently debuted a new Spider-Man 4 fan trailer, specifically focusing on Maguire’s incarnation of the web-crawler. This idea specifically focuses on exploring what happens to Maguire after his adventures in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The footage depicts what it would look like if Maguire’s Spider-Man came into contact with the MCU’s Time Variance Authority, which was introduced in Loki season 1. The Spider-Man 4 fan trailer also serves as a crossover with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, featuring Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter.

Will Spider-Man 4 With Tobey Maguire Actually Happen?

The bigger question about Spider-Man 4 is whether or not Sony Pictures will actually ever go through with it. In theory, Maguire’s film series will likely never be resurrected as long as they are still running with Holland, who Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are eying a sequel trilogy for in the future. However, given Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s massive success, it wouldn’t be shocking if Sony Pictures found a way to somehow continue Maguire’s take on the Marvel icon.

Spider-Man 4, at this point, is likely a lost cause, given how long it has been since Maguire’s original trilogy ended. But with that said, there is nothing stopping Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios from continuing his story through other Marvel projects. Whether Maguire would show up in another Holland-Spider-Man movie or something like Avengers: Secret Wars, if the creative team has arcs they want to explore with him, there are movies that they realistically can execute those ideas without having to necessarily produce a Spider-Man 4 for him.

Hopefully, Avengers: Secret Wars is where Maguire shows up next, given how Spider-Man: No Way Home became so integral to The Multiverse Saga as a whole. Given that the film isn’t coming until 2027, time will tell if Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been secretly trying to get Maguire back. While Spider-Man 4 isn’t looking likely, stranger things have happened in Hollywood.
