Touch ID was long associated with Apple’s iPhones, and some users held out hope that the iPhone 14 would bring back the fingerprint sensor. Touch ID was first introduced as a security mechanism for the iPhone 5s, but Apple later dropped the fingerprint sensor for its flagship smartphones starting with the iPhone X. However, there have been times when beloved features of previous iPhone lineups were given new life and reintroduced in later models. For instance, the home button that was removed in newer iPhones was brought back for the iPhone SE. Touch ID currently lives on in the iPhone SE lineup, too.
