Knowing where to find the serial number of AirPods is unlikely to be high up on the agenda of most users, but being aware of how to check the number is something that could prove useful when issues arise, as the number can be used to check the warranty and support coverage. The serial number also comes in handy if users need to buy replacements, such as in the case of a lost AirPods earbud or case. When it comes to AirPods, specifically, there are multiple ways to find the serial number.

The easiest way to do this is by checking the AirPods case. While there are some differences between Apple’s earbuds and their charging case, they do share the same serial number. To find the number on AirPods or AirPods Pro, just open the case lid and look underneath. This applies to all AirPods cases, including Lightning, MagSafe, and wireless charging cases. The one exception here is with the AirPods Max headphones. Instead of being printed on the case, the physical serial number can be checked by detaching the left magnetic ear cushion.

Check AirPods Serial Number On iPhone & Mac

AirPods serial number

One of the easiest ways to check the serial number of AirPods is through an iPhone or iPad that’s connected to the AirPods. Before doing this, make sure the AirPods are inside the ears and connected to the iPhone or iPad. Next, open the Settings app, and then navigate to the ‘Bluetooth’ section. Once there, locate the AirPods in the Bluetooth list and tap the information (i) button next to the AirPods name. This will open a new section that includes a dedicated ‘About’ subsection, listing the serial number along with the model name and number.

Users who have a Mac can also find the serial number in Settings. Like with the iPhone, place the AirPods in the ears and connect them to the Mac. Click on the Apple menu and select ‘System Settings.’ Scroll down and click on the AirPods in the sidebar on the left. The model number will be displayed on the screen.

Finding the serial number of most Apple products is very simple for those that have kept hold of the original packaging as the number tends to be printed on the package, along with the barcode and other related information. Likewise, the serial number for AirPods is typically also listed on the original receipt. Once found, users can check their current warranty status and AppleCare coverage eligibility by entering the AirPods serial number on Apple’s Service and Support Coverage website.
